Teams Finish 2019 Fall Season in Historic Fashion!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  The Fenton Athletic Program has had an amazing 10 year run, where our teams have collectively accomplished things never seen before in school history.  Over the past decade, three new Varsity sports have been added to the offerings at FHS, many programs have advanced further than ever before in MHSAA State tournaments, the Girls' Swim & Dive team has a streak of 16 straight league titles, Girls' Soccer played in its first ever D2 MHSAA State Final, Volleyball played in a MHSAA State Semifinal in Class A, the Football team has a playoff streak going that spans the entire decade, Baseball advanced to its first ever D1 MHSAA Super Regional, teams contributed to winning nine of the past ten Flint Metro League All Sports Trophies, and there have been so many more great moments!

That all said, the collective accomplishments of the teams during the Fall of 2019 is arguably the best overall performance in one season in school history.  Let's take a look at what was accomplished:

  • Five teams secured Flint Metro League titles (Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Football, Girls Swim & Dive, & Boys Soccer)
  • Five teams competed at the MHSAA State Finals as a team (Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Girls Golf, Girls Swim & Dive, Boys Tennis)
  • Volleyball played for a D1 MHSAA District Title
  • Football advanced to the District title game of the D2 MHSAA Playoffs
  • Girls Golf placed 5th overall at the D2 MHSAA State Finals (ties their best finish ever)
  • Girls Swim & Dive placed 8th at the D2 MHSAA State Finals (best ever for D2)
  • Boys Cross Country placed 11th at the D1 MHSAA State Finals
  • Girls Cross Country placed 19th at the D1 MHSAA State Finals
  • Boys Tennis placed 18th at the D2 MHSAA State Finals
  • Boys Soccer advanced to the D2 MHSAA Semifinals
  • Gracie Olsen won two individual D2 State Titles in swimming
  • 15 student-athletes were All-State or All-State Honorable Mention in their respective sport
  • Brad Jones was name the D2 Girls Swim Coach of the Year

The icing on the cake was that MLive named Fenton High School as the 11th Best High School Fall Sports Program in the State for 2019!  Furthermore, Fenton is the only Public High School from Genesee County to make the list.  Check out the entire list here:  https://www.mlive.com/highschoolsports/2019/12/mlives-ultimate-state-champion-salutes-michigans-top-athletic-programs.html

Congratulations to all of our student-athletes and coaches.  Thank you to our awesome community for your support our young student-athletes in all they do!

Can't wait to see what the next decade brings for Fenton Athletics!
